Aperture

What Is Aperture? The main function of a camera lens is to collect light. The aperture of a lens is the diameter of the lens opening and is usually controlled by an iris. The larger the diameter of the aperture, the more light reaches the film / image sensor. When using a point and shoot camera the aperture is normally fixed and you cannot change it. On a DSLR you can change the aperture. Setting it to what you feel comfortable is trial and error. Aperture is measured on your camera using f like f8.0. The smaller the F-stop, the larger the aperture.

Camera Settings and what they each do

I own a Cannon T3i... The first setting you want to get familiar with is the Av setting. Av is the setting that I use for portraits. With this setting you can focus on your clients or object you are photographing and the background will be blurred. The next setting you should learn is the Tv setting. Tv can be used when photographing sporting events or dances. I have also used this setting for a wedding as the bridal party comes down the aisle. P is for program it is an auto setting so the camera will control the shutter speed and aperture. When you are ready and have mastered these two settings you can move on to the M setting which is manual. In manual you will have the freedom to set the shutter speed and aperture on your camera. A-DEP is the setting used for automatic depth-of-field. This means the foreground and background are in focus.

Who I am

Hi I am a photographer trying to be noticed. I love what I do, it is amazing. I get to be a stay at home mom and go out and follow my dreams at the same time. Some people say photography is just a hobby, but I feel like it's a passion. I really enjoy getting out there and being creative. I push my mind to it's limits to think of cool things to do for clients in different situations. I hope to one day me a greatly known photographer.
